If you decide to take the first flight to NYC and get into the bus as soon as you can and stop at the Times square...be ready to see thousands and thousand of plays all over the corner!! this season, this year only 2010 is full of excellent productions with a high class of actors and sets ready to be nominated this year..is not scary? they have to make decisions by less than a month and decide which play is the best!.around 28 shows are running with 6 more to come, here are the top dog and under dog by gross:
Wicked (1,470,352),Billi Elliot (1,392,270),The Lion King (1,161,864),Jersey Boys (1,142,846), and A Steady Rain (1,096,463). leaving behind 23 more shows working hard to reach the top 5 as well at least before the Tony's nomination list.
as a remainder from the 2008 Tony's the winner was in the heights and we are very excited to see which musical is goint to climb the hill by this nominations. right now they have a few announcements for special awards and honors, which some of them are:
A life time tony for Alan Ayckbourn the author from 74 full-lenght plays, directed more than 300 productions and he was knighted in 1987 as Sir Alan on England.
The Actress Marian Seldes, her career expands more than six decades and were she was Ira Levin's long run Deathtrap were she appeared in all 1,809 performances.
And honors for excellence which are the institutions who have demonstrated an excellent achievement on the theater community are:
The alliance of resident Theater New York,they have near to 300 theaters in managing and earning the reputation as the leader of the community off Broadway.
B.H Barry, the best theatrical stage combat director with productions since 1982 til the show dividing the stage 2008.
And Tom Viola, his been honored for his commitment towards the fight against AIDS through Broadway cares and became executive director and he was honored before for a Tony on 1993.
so be ready to see the Winners for the shows this June or purchase the tickets, which they are available now for 429.50 and 229.50!!
i dont have the money to go or pay for a ticket but ill be ready with my bag of popcorn and pop ready to watch the best night ever..
